Als ich kürzlich bei Sephora.com bestellt habe, wollte ich mir eigentlich die Kat Van D Shade and Light Palette zulegen, aber ohne sie vorher getestet zu haben wollte ich nicht so viel Geld investieren. Ich entschied mich also für die Smashbox Konturen Palette, die man in jedem Douglas erwerben kann.
Die Palette ist im typischen schwarzen Smashbox Design gehalten, leicht und kompakt. Dadurch kann man sie sehr gut verstauen oder auch mal mitnehmen. Im Lieferumfang enthalten ist auch ein Pinsel, der nicht ultra schlecht ist, aber ich nutze stattdessen lieber meine softeren Zoeva Pinsel.
In der Palette sind drei Puder enthalten:
"Contour" (mattes Braun mit grauem Unterton zum Konturieren)
- lässt sich sehr gut verblenden
- hochpigmentiert, also vorsicht mit der Menge!
- sieht sehr natürlich aus
- lässt sich super verteilen und verblenden
- sehr natürliche Wärme
- nicht fleckig auf der Haut
- würde mir hier ein Satin-Finish wünschen, da es schnell fahl wirkt
- sitzt gut unter den Augen, verschmilzt nach und nach mit der Haut, dadurch sehr natürlich
- könnte für mich etwas heller sein um wirklich aufzuhellen
- sieht schnell pudrig aussehen wenn man zu viel verwendet
- als Setting Puder für das Augenlid nur bedingt zu empfehlen, bei mir kriecht es nach einiger Zeit in die Lidfalten
Gesamt:
Die Pigmentierung der Puder ist hervorragend. Am stärksten zeigt sich das beim Konturieren. Ich tippe nur einmal mit dem Pinsel in das Pfännchen und habe genug für einen Wangenknochen. Das macht die Palette sehr ergiebig.
Alle drei Puder lassen sich auf bloßer Haut oder auf Foundation sehr gut verblenden, es sieht nicht streifig oder fleckig aus.
Dadurch, dass Bronze und Highlight komplett matt sind, kann es passieren, dass trotz der Multidimensionalität das Gesicht fahl wirkt. Ich nutze daher den Bronzer nur leicht und verwende noch einen etwas schimmernden darüber.
Fazit:
Die Qualität der Puder finde ich sehr gut, sie sind hochpigmentiert, verblenden traumhaft und halten den ganzen Tag. "Highlight" könnte definitiv heller und "Bronze" mehr satin sein, aber das ist persönliche Preferenz.
Nun die Frage: Kaufempfehlung? Jein! Die Palette ist sehr gut und erfüllt ihren Zweck, für 45€ finde ich sie allerdings zu teuer und würde sie mir nicht nachkaufen.
Today I would like to talk about my experience with the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit ($45)
Recently I ordered off Sephora.com and thought about getting the Kat Van D Shade and Light Palette. However, without having the chance to try it out beforehand, I did not want to invest that much money. So I decided to get the Contour Palette by Smashbox, that you can buy at every Douglas.
The palette comes in the typical black Smashbox design. Due to it's leightweight and compact packaging, you can easily store it or take it with you. The palette comes with a brush, that is not nessecarily bad, I just prefer using my soft Zoeva brushes.
The palette contains three powders:
"Contour" (matte brown with grey undertones)
- blends very well
- highly pigmented, so be careful with the amout you use
- looks very natural
- blends very well
- brings a natural warmth to the skin
- does not look patchy
- I'd prefer a satin finish, since it can look pallid
- sits well on the undereye area, melts in with the skin and looks natural
- could be a little lighter to really brighten up the complexion
- looks powdery very quickly when using to much
- not entirely recommendable as a setting powder on the lid, since it creases after a while
Overall Impression:
The pigmentation of the powders is amazing. I noticed this most when I used the contour shade. I only had to dip in my brush once and had enough product to contour my entire cheek. This makes the palette last forever!
All three shades blend very well on bare skin or on top of foundation without looking streeky or patchy.
Since "Bronze" and "Highlight" are completely matte, the skin may look pallid even though it is multidimensional. Because of that, I only use a little bit of "Bronze" and then top it with a light layer of a shimmering bronzer.
Conclusion:
The quality of the powders is very good, they are highly pigmented, blend beautifully and last all day long. However, "Highlight" could be brighter and "Bronze" more satiny, but that's personal preference.
Now the question: Recommendation? Yes and no! The palette ist very good and fulfills its purpose, however, $45 ist simply too much for this palette which is why I wouldn't repurchase it.
